Chapter 1
Caleb Fox was "struggling" above me, rising and falling, his ears flushed, that pretty face locked tight.
It was ten partner push-ups. A penalty. Was it really that hard?
I didn't want to wreck his ego, so I played along and cheered him on.
"You got this!"
He froze. His whole body went slack, and he dropped onto me, heavy.
Those two pretty mouths found each other like they'd been aiming the whole time, landing square on mine.

In Kingston, project after project got stolen out from under us. The mood on my team turned ugly.
"Did our team lead piss off Stellar Group's CEO or something? We're so dead."
"Please. If their CEO showed up in person, that's not a small grudge."
"There's still a way. If she's willing to work her looks and land the Stellar CEO... we might actually turn this around."
Kingston was Stellar Group's turf. And Stellar's CEO, Caleb Fox, was my nemesis.
The second he found out I'd come to Kingston, Stellar—who used to treat Helix Tech like we didn't exist—started coming for us on every deal.
Caleb went further. He made it a threat: any project with my name on it, Shannon Lin, he would fight me for.
Unless...
Unless I spent a night with him.
Childish didn't even cover it.
I knew exactly what this was. He was messing with me on purpose.
And even if I did sleep with him—he's gay. What was he going to do to me?
Four years in London, and he hadn't grown up. He'd just gotten meaner.
Over that little childhood crap? He was still holding a grudge after all these years?

Ten times the salary. Yeah. That scrambled my brain. Caleb didn't give me time to think. He pulled out a contract that was already drafted and told me to sign. I was thrilled. I didn't let it show.

Luckily, senior year was so brutal it drowned out everything else. Homework. Practice tests. I could barely breathe, let alone pick apart Caleb's weird behavior, or that bomb Chloe had dropped.

I sat there the whole afternoon like I was on pins. Work was a joke. My fingers hit the keys on autopilot. My eyes kept sliding past the monitor, sneaking looks at Caleb.

I went with the rule: if I wasn't awkward, the awkward one was everybody else. I spent a week talking myself through it. Then I could walk through Stellar with my head up again.

Back in the CEO's office, Caleb looked normal again. Except for the dodge in his eyes when he looked at me, small enough to miss. On the drive home he was still low. Quiet the whole way.

I woke up the next day at noon. Sun shoved through a gap in the curtains and dumped itself all over the room. A string of rapid phone buzzes dragged me up. I grabbed it. All Chloe.
