Chapter 1
The campus heartthrob was so hot it should have been illegal.
I landed him with a 100-word confession.
Then I blocked him on the spot.
"That necklace you keep. It's hers, isn't it? The one that got away."
"Yes."
"Then why come after me?"
I hit his chest, furious, tears coming anyway, traitors.
He panicked. Wiped my face, careful.
"Weren't you the one who came after me first...?"
***
A bar.
Low light. A woman sat across from me, all curves, and slid a filthy private photo under my nose.
"Break up with Jake. All these years he's only ever seen you as a little sister."
Accounting's it girl. Perfume thick enough to choke on. She thought that made her a woman.
I frowned. My eyes went cold. "Have Jake tell me himself."
She was ready. More photos on her phone, the two of them all over each other. Her face went pink. "I say it. He says it. Same thing."
The pictures were shameless. They burned.
I knocked back a few shots of something hard. My eyes stung.
"If he can cheat on me, he can cheat on you. This mooch is yours. I don't want him.”
